GLORIA JEAN WILLIAMS

An angelic time and season were sprinkled from above on November 1, 1952 to 

Alton and Frances Dukes for a season. With the passage of time, and as the seasons

 changed, her angelic nature showed from within/without. It glowed in her obedience

 to her parents, accomplishing and superseding in her education, providing for her

 livelihood and motherhood. 

Gloria Jean Dukes- Williams was the 1st child born to the late Alton Dukes and surviving mother, Frances Dukes. She was brought up in a God-fearing, God-loving home and community. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Union Spring Baptist Church in Shreveport, Louisiana. 

Gloria embraced her Lord and Savior’s hand as he summoned her to eternal rest on July 5, 2024, at the age of 71, in Garland, Texas after a brief illness. She is survived by her husband John T Williams Jr. of 46 years , their sons Brandon Jamar Williams and Jermaine Wiliams (Angela and daughter, Attiana Williams) and stepdaughter Johnana Williams and her three sons. She is survived by her mother Frances Davis-Dukes and two sisters, Cathy Dukes- Givens (Ronald) and their two children Ebonee and Jamil and her sister, Earnstein Dukes Lee (Matthews) and a host of relatives and friends. 

 Gloria’s education began in Shreveport, Louisiana at Hollywood Elementary School. She graduated from Union Street High School in 1970. She also attended modeling school while in high school. After high school , Gloria attended Bishop College and graduated in 1975 with a degree in Business. After graduating, she resided in the Dallas, Texas area and worked at various jobs. After she married, she and her family resided in Garland, Texas and at the time of her death, she was an active member of the Second Chapel Baptist Church in Garland, Tx. 

 Although her physical presence is no more, love never dies. She will always be remembered by her devotion to her family and friends and be in our hearts.
